The MotoGP 24 videogame has been announced by the Italian developer Milestone, and it will launch with a new fan-requested feature.

The 2024 MotoGP game will be Milestone’s 12th since acquiring the MotoGP videogame licence in 2013.

For this release, the Italian developer (which is also responsible for the Ride series of videogames) has introduced a new feature that has been highly requested by fans in recent years.

Namely, rider transfers. Yes, in MotoGP 24 the player will not be the only rider who can change teams in the Career Mode. Instead, all of the official riders will be able to move from team-to-team from one season to the next. It is a feature which will add another level of immersion in the game’s Career Mode, as the player will not have to deal with Fabio Quartararo still being at an ailing Yamaha team in 2030, for example.

It is also a feature which has been in the F1 games, developed by Codemasters, since the 2019 game, hence the increasing desire among fans of the MotoGP game for a similar system to be implemented in the two-wheel franchise. The limitation on such a system has always been licensing agreements, but clearly a solution has been found between Milestone and MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna.

Other features in the 2024 MotoGP game include a new AI system, which means “rookies will be fiery as they need to prove themselves, while veterans will be more strategic,” Milestone says. Additionally, the physics have been adjusted to improve mid-corner control while on the throttle, and the tyre model has been changed to improve the useability of each tyre compound on all circuits.

There’s also a new LiveGP Championship mode - an online mode with monthly multi-race championships. The livery and sticker editors are also back in 2023 as is cross-play, but only on Xbox and PlayStation platforms for the latter.

MotoGP 24 is set to release on 2 May 2024 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
