Metzeler has announced an agreement between itself and the promoters of the Supermoto World Championship for it to become the official tyre supplier of the series.

The new deal between Metzeler and XIEM, the promoter for the FIM Supermoto World Championship, will also see Metzeler as the official tyre supplier for the FIM Supermoto European Championship and the FIM Supermoto of Nations, both of which are also promoted by XIEM.

The deal will last from the upcoming 2023 season until the conclusion of the 2025 season, and will see all S1GP motorcycles in the World Championship, and all S4 bikes in the European Championship, fitted with Metzeler Racetec SM tyres.

At the rear, Metzeler will provide 17-inch tyres in the K1 compound for both World and European Championships; while at the front the World Championship riders will receive 16.5-inch tyres with both K1 and K2 compounds, but in the European Championship the same compounds will be available in the 17-inch size for the S4-category riders.

Danilo Boccadolce, CEO XIEM, said: "I am very proud and happy with the agreement reached with a prestigious brand such as Metzeler, one of the world leaders in the production of motorcycle tyres. An important choice that will bring added value to the competitions we manage and, more generally, to our discipline.”

Francesco Pietrangeli, Moto Marketing Director Metzeler, said: "We are satisfied to have added this exciting discipline to Metzeler's sporting activities. Supermoto is perfectly in the brand's strings because it is an activity with an important component of spectacular action thanks to the particular riding technique adopted and in which the performance offered by the tyres plays an important role."

The 2023 Supermoto World Championship and 2023 Supermoto European Championship will both get underway on 30 April in Busca, for the Italian GP. Castelletto Di Branduzzo will host the Supermoto of Nations on 15 October.
