The series will comprise MiniGP competitions across the globe that sign up to be part of the new initiative, with each competition in the Series running the same rules to keep it competitive. MiniGP Cups or competitions wishing to be included as part of the new Series can request to join, thereby gaining Road to MotoGP status. These can be either national, regional or continental level competitions.

The bikes used in  MiniGP will be Ohvale GP-0 160s - this bike is the new GP-2

The races will be held at kart circuits that adhere to FIM standards with riders between 10 and 14-years-old allowed to take part. The racing will take place on identical Ohvale GP-0 160 machinery. The official single tyre supplier for all the FIM MiniGP World Series will be Pirelli, with standardised hoops provided at every event.

The UK Ohvale importer is none other than Peter Hickman, the fastest road racer on the planet and long-time uber-fan of the exotic Italian miniature race bikes.

Speaking about the new FIM MiniGP World Series, he said:

"It’s mega to see the likes of the FIM and Dorna get behind Ohvale as a brand, it really cements what I have been saying for the past year or so, that the Ohvale bikes are the perfect stepping stone into racing and onto BSB, European Championships and even MotoGP! Myself as Ohvale UK couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved with our 110cc class in 2020 with over 25 riders competing throughout the year. Now to see a world 160cc class, we have already announced to run a 160cc Ohvale only class at the Rich Energy British Mini Bikes Championship earlier this week, affiliated with the FIM and Dorna is awesome. I can’t wait to see what talent we have to prevail from these championships!"

All the bikes used in MiniGP are Ohvale GP-0 machines - this is the top-spec larger GP-2

The champion of every national, regional, or continental MiniGP cup will be given the opportunity to participate in a World Final, which will take place during the week leading up to the final MotoGP event of the season. The winner of the World Final will secure a spot in one of the Road To MotoGP programs on the next rung of their career ladder.

Could your bike-mad offspring be the next Marc Marquez or Valentino Rossi? If they are, it’s time to get them an Ohvale.
