Ducati 1198 ridden by Rossi up for auction

Standard 1198 to go under the hammer for Riders for Health

DUCATI is to auction the 1198 that Valentino Rossi rode at Silverstone in aid of Riders for Health.

After attending the ceremony for the new Silverstone Wing, Rossi used the opportunity to sample some practice laps aboard his WSB-spec 1198SP after missing the race last year due to injury. Unforunately the bike was struck with technical problems.

Ducati UK stepped in to help the nine-times champion and supplied Valentino with a standard road-registered 1198 - click here to see a video of his laps. The bike, complete with licence plate, indicators and mirrors still attached, typically used for customer demonstration rides allowed Rossi to complete 30 laps to familiarise himself with the Silverstone circuit ahead of the race.

Rossi signed the 1198 as a thank you to Ducati UK and the bike will be up for bidding at the Silverstone auctions on Saturday 11th June, with the money raised going to the Riders for Health charity.
