BSB Supersport wildcard for Melissa Paris
AMA Supersport rider to get a taster of the BSB Supersport Cup at the final round at Brands Hatch
AMA rider Melissa Paris will make her British debut in October as she will race in the final British Supersport Cup round at Brands Hatch.
Melissa, who rides a Yamaha R6 in the States, will join the Motodex-backed Yamaha squad as she uses the weekend to assess the BSB paddock and see how competitive she is in the Cup championship. Good results at the final round could see the Californian switch to the British domestic series next season.
“I am so excited to ride the Motodex Performance First Yamaha R6! I know that learning a new circuit on the fly will be a challenge but I look forward to it,” said Melissa, “I owe a huge thanks to HT Moto and Yamaha and all of my sponsors here in the US for being so supportive as well as Tony Dexter for putting together this incredible opportunity for me.”
Melissa is known for being one of America's top female riders and as the wife of AMA Superbike champion, Josh Hayes. Should she make the decision to join the BSB Supersport full-time next season she will follow ex-AMA riders John Hopkins and Jake Zemke.
