Yamaha Ténéré 700 mixes 80s Dakar style and modern tech

Custom motorcycle company Deus has given the Yamaha Ténéré 700 the 80s Dakar Rally treatment

ITALIAN firm, Deus Ex Machina has created what might just be one of the coolest modern-day custom adventure motorcycles we’ve ever seen!

In standard trim, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 is a handsome beast, albeit in a utilitarian and modern style. For fans of the more classic style of adventure bikes though, the look of the Yamaha might not tick all the right boxes!

Classic Dakar Rally bikes of old had a boxier, more stylised look to them. And it’s a style that in recent years has been pushing up the value of classic adventure machines.

The Deus Ténéré looks to change all that, offering all the modern-day technology and design of the standard Ténéré 700, all wrapped in a perfectly executed retro body kit.

The work on the bike was carried out by French racer Jean-Claude Moussé, who presented the creation during the Wheels & Waves Swank Rally event – ran behind closed doors.

The updates to the bike include new radiator protection, chain guide and protection, Yamaha motor guard and toolbox, and Acerbis handguards. The suspension has also been updated with Andreani front forks that allow an extra  30MM of travel and an Öhlins shock. The design of the bodywork was done by Camel Studio with the fairing, tank cover, seat, rear mudguard, and side covers. The result is the awesome looking shape you see here, which is now available in kit form.
