Husqvarna 901 Norden peeks from under covers as launch date nears

The Husqvarna 901 Norden is teased from under the covers as the Swedish firm prepares to unveil its first large KTM-based adventure motorcycle

Husqvarna 901 Norden

The Husqvarna 901 Norden appears to be in the final stages of development after the Swedish firm released a webisode detailing what has been a lengthy route from stage to production for the ambitious ADV model.

The 901 Norden was first revealed in concept form at the 2019 EICMA show in Milan, with the final ready-for-the-road production variant expected to make its bow two years later at the 2021 edition of the show in November.

Arguably Husqvarna’s most significant new launch since being brought under the Pierer Mobility (KTM) umbrella from BMW in 2013, though Husqvarna has a rich tradition in off-roading with its supermoto and enduro models, the 901 Norden represents a shift into a much larger and more competitive territory.

Sharing its underpinnings with the KTM 890 Adventure, though the final version of the Norden 901 hasn’t been revealed yet, teasers in this video from the design and engineering perspective suggest it will remain true to the simple, stylish, Scandic inspired lines of the prototype.

Targeted at the Triumph Tiger 900 and Moto Guzzi V85 TT, the Husqvarna Norden 901 arrives on the scene as the biggest model Husqvarna has ever produced and comes despite the firm’s forthcoming focus on smaller, electric powered models led by the E-Pilen and the distinctive Vektorr scooter.

The Norden will be the first ‘Huskie’ to be fitted with the 889cc used in the KTM Duke and Adventure, though it will soon be available on the next generation of the Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen nakeds.
