Refreshed 2020 Yamaha TMAX 560 hits the streets

The seventh generation 2020 Yamaha TMAX 560 scooter is unveiled ahead of the 2019 EICMA show with updated styling, more power and a smoother ride

The latest generation of the Yamaha TMAX scooter has been unveiled ahead of the 2019 EICMA show in Milan boasting refreshed styling, more power and a more ergonomic riding experience.

One of Yamaha’s biggest-selling models in Europe where it has become a common sight on the urban commute, the Japanese manufacturer has shifted more than 275,000 TMAX’s since 2001.

Now in its seventh generation, the 2020 Yamaha TMAX scooter has been upgraded with a 560cc two-cylinder engine that has been tweaked to offer greater torque versatility and increase maximum power by 3.5%, while meeting more demanding emissions standards across Europe.

Considered one of the sharper looking scooters on the market, the 2020 Yamaha TMAX has retained the similar sport-inspired aesthetic that has made it popular and shares a number of traits with its larger motorcycle siblings. Despite the familiarity, Yamaha insists every panel – except the fairing – is new.

Notably, the tapered rear-end gives the TMAX a slimmer silhouette, as well as offering the ergonomic benefits of easier access. It also features new LED flashers, plus a T shaped rear light to differentiate it from the current model.

Revised packaging ensures greater storage space, while Yamaha insists the riding experience has been enhanced by a new CVT belt and a revised engine sound derived from Yamaha’s Kanno Hyoka – human sensory testing.

2020 Yamaha TMAX Tech MAX

The Yamaha TMAX Tech MAX adds a variety of equipment features to raise its desirability and is aimed at those seeking a more premium machine.

Offered in Tech Kamo grey colour option, the Yamaha Tech MAX is set apart from the outset by its gold-coloured forks, while kit levels include an electric screen, cruise control, grip heaters, adjustable rear suspension and MyTMAX Connect interactivity.

The 2020 Yamaha TMAX will go on sale in December, with prices to be announced nearer the time.
