KAWASAKI Japan have announced the Z900RS and Z900RS Café is to receive new colour options for 2020 after the news broke on Japanese motorcycle magazine, Young Machine.

The options listed for the 2020 version of the bike include some retro-inspired options that feature the lines and decals of some of Kawasaki’s most highly regarded versions of the iconic 70s superbike.

First off let’s take a look at the Z900 RS which was launched in either Metallic Black, Metallic Khaki or Candy Brown and Orange. For 2020 customers can park a bike in their garage that apes the original (and probably best) colour scheme painted on a Kawasaki, in the form of ’74 Yellow Tiger.

The top of the tank is coated in a deep candy green colour with a broad, yellow band which is flanked by two yellow pinstripes running from the front of the tank to the tip of the seat unit. As with the current ‘RS, the 2020 bike will come with painted mudguards and side panels.

The magazine also confirms that the Z900RS will be available in Metallic Diablo Black, although we still aren’t quite sure how that differs from the current black bike. It’s possible this is more of a metal flake design and less of a candy – flaked paint uses larger particles within the paint to give a different luster to the motorcycle.

The Z900RS Café also gets a makeover for 2020 with two new colour options to choose from including what the magazine calls blue – although we seem to think it’s more of a grey colour – that features a white stipe that loops the headlight cowl of the bike and runs the length of the bike’s flank. The next choice is a redesign of the already available option of the Z900RS, just with a black top to the tank as opposed to the white top tank of the first generation’s bike.
