BMW's latest promo video for the G310R

It'll make you wish you were young and beautiful again
BMW's latest promo video for the G310R

WITH all the new bike launches that have been taking place this year, we’ve been a bit guilty of forgetting that BMW has two important new models due in 2016 – the R nineT Scrambler and G310R.

The word from BMW is that the R nineT Scrambler is due in the third quarter or this year, with the G310R to follow after and to refresh our memory on its brand new sub-500cc single-cylinder naked, BMW has released this promo video for the G310R.

Shot in Brazil, it shows some bloke called Chris Northover taking to the streets of Sao Paulo aboard the G310R before escaping to less built-up surroundings.

Of course, no promo video would be complete without a smattering of aspirational lifestyle content touching on the pillars of modern motorcycle marketing - passion, freedom and lifestyle. BMW hasn’t let us down here – with the slick looking video containing plenty of cool shots of beautiful, youthful types out on their longboards, accompanied by a narrative that talks about passion and fear. It’s all very evocative and makes us wish we were younger. (And in my case, better looking – Ed).

The long and short of it is that the G310R promises to be an adept city bike, but one that’s also capable when you want to escape the urban jungle (see, the video’s already rubbing off).

Considering its 313cc capacity and claimed 34hp, it’s obviously aimed at bringing younger riders in to the BMW fold and will be competing with the likes of naked funsters like the KTM 390 Duke and recently-launched Yamaha MT-03.

There’s still no word on pricing but we suspect that you’ll need to flog some of your longboards if you want one.
