Aprilia SRX160 teased ahead of launch

APRILIA looks set to be bringing a new scoot’ to the market, as the SXR60 is teased ahead of the machine’s official launch.

The bike forms part of a new range of sharp-suited and sporty scooters built specifically for the Asian market. While the SXR160 is the bike being teased, we saw a pre-production version at the start of the year, it’s highly likely the machine spawn smaller capacity models. These smaller models, specifically a 125cc version, could eventually reach the UK.

The bike was supposed to land this year, although for obvious reasons that plan has been shelved. While we don’t have an official timeframe for release, the fact that Aprilia has released this teaser tells us it’s getting close to being launch-ready, Possibly before Christmas.

The new bike is powered by a three-valve single-cylinder engine that is shared between this and the SR160. It generates a fairly restrained 11bhp and has a fuel capacity of six litres. Away from the engine, the bike features telescopic forks at the front and a single-sided spring at the back. Braking is taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the back. The 160 cc model is thought to be coming equipped with ABS in Asia, while the 125cc will use a combined braking system – possibly upgraded to two-channel ABS for the UK and Europe.

The Aprilia SXR 160 will be available in four colour options – Red, Blue, White and Black. The optional accessories will include connectivity, mobile docking system, and merchandise like Aprilia helmets and apparel.
