A couple of weeks ago we covered the news that the 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 adventure motorcycle would be following in its smaller sibling’s footsteps and gaining a new, more svelte exterior.

Today though, we can share the news we were all waiting for, and it relates to the Tiger 1200s updated for the 2022 engine. Triumph’s latest press release that accompanies the images you can see, has confirmed that the 2022 Tiger 1200 will feature the firms innovative T-plane crank engine. That’s big news for a bike that is looking to take on the big guns in the adventure bike class.
The T-plane crank design in the Tiger 900 is a revelation, giving the bike the low-down grunt and ballsy delivery of a V-twin, with the shrieking redline of a traditional three-cylinder. It’s a proper two engines in one feeling. And while it's well worth burning some paragraphs telling you how it all works, but we already have a page doing just that right here.
The intricacies of the engine are still, as yet unknown, along with that the final specs of the bike. What we do know though is that the Tiger 900 pushed the middle-weight adventure machine out of the shadows and into the limelight, as one of the best all-around ADV bikes on the planet. You wouldn’t bet against this latest Tiger 1200 doing exactly the same thing!
