Mondial expands the Spartan range with new 600cc model

Mondial joins the modern bobber revival with the Spartan 600, a neo-retro twin that blends classic cool with contemporary engineering.

At this year’s EICMA show in Milan, there was a noticeable surge of interest in the custom segment — and Mondial is clearly here for it. The Italian marque pulled the covers off its latest creation during the expo, the Spartan 600, a middleweight twin-cylinder bobber that blends retro cues with a surprisingly modern technical package.

Under that angular 17.5-litre fuel tank sits a 554cc parallel twin with an almost square bore and stroke measurement of 70.5 x 71mm. The engine is claimed to be good for 62bhp at 8,250 rpm and 40lb ft of torque at 6,500 rpm, meaning it’s no fire-breather, but for a laid-back cruiser, it should have enough get-up-and-go. The motor sits in a tubular steel frame, suspended by an adjustable upside-down fork at the front and a rear monoshock, suggesting Mondial hasn’t forgotten that handling still matters, even when riding something with a bobbed rear fender and a low-slung stance.

Weighing in at 204 kg wet and with a seat height of just 710 mm, the Spartan 600 should appeal to a broad range of riders, especially those who value accessibility and comfort over top-end performance. It rolls on chunky 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear tyres, a choice that enhances both the styling and the easy-going nature of the ride. Braking is taken care of by a single disc and four-piston radially-mounted caliper at the front, and a single-piston sliding caliper at the rear.

Visually, the Spartan 600 nails that modern-classic mix. The round LED headlight, Mondial-branded exhaust, and matte grey-and-black paint scheme with beige detailing give it a purposeful but restrained presence — the kind of design that looks equally at home outside a café as it does carving along a coastal road.

Mondial says the Spartan 600 will officially debut in 2026, giving the company time to finalise production details and, hopefully, ensure that the final version keeps the charm of this concept while delivering a solid ride to match its looks.

The Mondial Spartan 600 is the third bike in the Spartan range, alongside a 125cc and a 250cc version. We currently don’t get either of those bikes in the UK, though, meaning we can't say for sure if the new 600 will make it to these shores anytime soon.
