Michael Laverty’s MLav Racing Team Joins BSB Championship
Michael Laverty’s MLac Racing is adding the BSB championship to its list of commitments for 2025

Michael Laverty’s MLav Racing team, which is already competing in Moto3 and set to make its debut at the Isle of Man TT this year, is now going to be racing in the BSB series.
The team owner and TNT Sports pundit as part of the MotoGP coverage, also fields teams in the JuniorGP World Championship, European Talent Cup and R&G British Talent Cup classes.
A former ten-time race winner in the British Superbike championship, Laverty’s decision to enter his racing team in the domestic series makes perfect sense after already confirming his intention to run a team at the Isle of Man TT and North West 200.
The team’s riders for the two road racing events will be Ian Hutchinson and Mike Browne and they will be riding BMW M1000 RR machinery.
Using the same machinery in BSB, MLav Racing will also compete in the National Superstock Championships this year. Richard Kerr will be the team’s first-ever rider in BSB.
In the superstock class it will be World Endurance veteran Ilya Mikhalchik, who is also a former IDM Superbike Champion, that will race for MLav.
While the signing of Kerr is no surprise, the addition of Mikhalchik certainly is, as the Ukrainian rider was set to race in BSB for FHO Racing this year.
However, that is no longer the case as the Faye Ho-owned team has decided to pull out of BSB, which makes it the second team to do so in the last two weeks following OMG Racing’s shock exit.
FHO Racing was initially set to field both Peter Hickman and Davey Todd in its road and circuit racing teams this year before choosing to abandon plans to race on the road in 2025.
That decision also led to a split with both riders in BSB before Mikhalchik was confirmed as the team’s lone rider for the 2025 campaign, but that’s no longer the case either.
