Kalashnikov diversifies line-up with new enduro variants

Two new variants of the Kalashnikov Izh Enduro were announced in December, one of which has four different drive options.

Founded by Mikhail Kalashnikov, the company is best known for building the most famous weapon of all-time: the AK-47. The widespread use of the rifle is known to have caused the former Russian general a kind of selfish distress, comparable – in a sense – to that attributed to Robert Oppenheimer who led the Manhattan Project in the 1940s, since his creation was responsible for the deaths of so many.

Kalashnikov himself died in 2013 at the age of 94, but his company has continued on and is no longer only a weapons manufacturer, having begun building motorcycles in 2020. By now its range even includes a selection of retro-inspired electric bikes like the Izh-49.

It’s the Izh Enduro that saw developments in December 2025, though. It’s not a new bike in itself, but there are now two new add-ons to the bike: a sidecar, and a trailer.

Unsurprisingly, given the name of the manufacturer, the bike is available for military use, but can also be bought by civilian consumers.

The trailer variant of the bike is as simple as it sounds, but the sidecar offers different drive options.

First, there is a 450cc four-stroke internal combustion option, then a 4kW electric motor. Alternatively, both the rear wheel of the bike and the sidecar wheel can be fitted with electric motors of either 3kW or 5kw each. Kalashnikov says this range of choices allows customers “to select the perfect model for their specific need”.

Pricing isn’t apparent at present, although we’re not exactly certain that a Western consumer base is especially high on the list of priorities for the company – which also produces missiles, artillery shells, and unmanned aerial attack drones – at the moment.
