Zero rider breaks electric bike distance record

Land's End to John O'Groats in a day. Or the equivalent of...

Zero rider Remo Klawitter has set a new record for the longest distance covered on an electric motorcycle in 24 hours, covering 1113.4km (691.8 miles) – a distance equivalent to riding from London to John O’Groats - on a looped ride between Berlin and the Land Centre for Renewable Energies in Neustrelitz last month.
Riding a 2018 Zero DSR ZF14.4, standard but for the fitment of a Zero’s optional Charge Tank, the Berliner set off at midday and rode in 150km (93 miles) stints at an average of between 55-60mph, and fully recharging in one hour by utilising the new Charge Tank, which allows connection to Level Two public charging points, and Zero’s accessory quick chargers.
“I have been thinking about a 24 hour ride since the middle of 2017,” said Remo, a bicycle shop owner and e-bike enthusiast. “Primarily I wanted to have fun, while drawing people’s attention to the practicality of electric motorcycles. Everything we have used is readily available from Zero and the route was on public roads.

“In total, we spent nine and a half hours charging and during this time, as well as resting and eating, I was able to speak to many people who were interested in the bike and the journey. The technology worked great and in total the cost of the electricity we used was just € 28.50 and the average speed was 46.4kph (28.8mph) including the breaks.”

Proves nothing. Uses a pre-planned and circuitous route that deliberately maximises the range between charges at a steady state that also is scientific, but NOT real world.
How about he goes 35 miles then is faced with charger without knowing where the next is?
Stop or not?
Now do it again with 185 miles between stops...

Oh, wow.

Every time electromobiles try to prove something, they just demonstrate why they're not ready for anything except short commutes with charging point at both ends.

I don't know what your commute is but I certainly wouldn't call a 186 mile round trip a short commute. That's more than a lot of people do on their Sunday runs.

The latest figure I could find gave the average UK commute at 9.3 miles. Using the figures in the article that means the average person could do the whole weeks commuting on a single 1 hour charge.
