Shane Byrne - Unshakeable

A NEW autobiography detailing the life and career of six-time British Superbike Champion  Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne will hit the shelves in autumn 2020, it has been revealed.

Titled ‘Unshakeable’, the autobiography is billed as an in-depth and personal account of Byrne’s upbringing from being abandoned as a new-born baby in a London hospital, the early stages of his burgeoning two-wheel endeavours and onto his hugely successful motorbike racing career.

Set to include insight on the moments that led to his six BSB titles and 76 wins, Byrne, 42, will also discuss his stints in WorldSBK and MotoGP, as well as share the story of his life-changing accident in 2018 when a crash whilst testing left him with serious back and neck injuries he is still recovering from today.

“I'm so happy and unbelievably proud to have been given the opportunity to share my story,” he said. “Who knew that a kid from a council estate riding around on his BMX making motorbike noises would eventually end up here!”

“Shane is a complete legend and his genius on the bike is matched only by his candour on the page” added publisher Robin Harvie. “He has written a story that will resonate not only with his fans but for anyone who wants to know what life looks like right at the limit of human capability. Unshakeable is set to be one of the biggest motorsports autobiographies for a generation.”

‘Shakey’, who famously also notched up two wins in a wild-card outing at Brands Hatch in 2003 on the WorldSBK stage, has not ridden a racing bike in anger since his high-speed accident at Snetterton in May 2018.

Byrne sustained multiple fractures to his upper body and was required to wear a metal cage around his head, neck and via his shoulder, but while he hasn't ruled out a racing return he hasn't given a timeline on when this could potentially be.
