Man suspected of attempting to steal motorcycles shot twice

Suspected of trying to steal a motorcycle, a man was shot twice outside a house in Greenhithe, a Kent jury has heard.

Ross Eaglestone was trying to “free” a number of motorcycles - including Yamahas and Ducatis - parked in Cooper close, Greenhithe, when he was shot twice through the arm by a handgun.

The shots are alleged to have been fired by Christopher Nourse, 43, from Ospringe Close, Penge, and Colin Nourse, 40, from Cooper Close. They appeared in court where they denied allegations of attempted murder and possession of weapons with intent.

Kent Online writes that the jury heard from prosecutor Martin Yale: “On the evening of Sunday 8 March 2020, gunshots rang out in a residential area in Greenhithe.

“The target was a group of men who were in the process of trying to steal some motorcycles, including Mr. Eaglestone.

“He was hit in the arm by two of the bullets and sustained serious injury.

“And whatever Mr. Eaglestone and the group were doing that cannot possibly justify shooting at them at all - let alone in an effort to kill them.”

Mr. Yale said that, while Christopher and Colin Nourse both denied they were the gunman, “the Crown say the evidence points to them as the people who shot at Mr. Eaglestone and his associates.

“The motorcycles that were being targeted belonged to them. They left Colin’s flat shortly before the shooting and returned soon afterwards before fleeing to Penge where Christopher lives.

“During that period numerous gunshots were fired and two were forensically linked to bullet casings recovered from the scene.”

Additionally, the jury heard that the gun that was used in the shooting was found a few streets away from Christopher Nourse’s home.
The prosecutor said "Firearms paraphernalia was later recovered from Colin's flat and a car linked to the brothers. In the month leading up to the incident the brothers had visited a shooting range in Texas.”

The trial continues.
