HE was most famous to the biking world for his TT comedy film No Limit - and now one of George Formby's own motorcycles is going to be up for sale. Formby's Norton 490cc international model 30 motorbike, is going up for auction for around £22,000 at Bonhams, Olympia in London on Monday December 3.

Formby was photographed on the bike, which he bought in 1947, when he visited the Norton factory in Birmingham to appear there on the hugely popular radio show Workers Playtime.

Formby, owned several bikes including a Scott, a Matchless G3LC and a Vincent Rapide series C, all supplied to him by Manchester dealers Kings of Oxford.

Bonhams expert Ben Walker said: "It would be a desirable bike even without the Formby provenance and it is also in excellent condition."
