The Armchair Adventure Festival kicks off today

IT’S fair to say that 2020 has been a bit a crap year on a number of levels. We all had plans for this year, and it’s fair to say, they have largely been put on hold or cancelled altogether. If that sounds like your year, the Armchair Adventure Festival is just the antidote you need.

The free event is running online and it starts today, 27th November, and runs until the 29th.  Confirmed speakers include Charley Boorman who will be speaking about his numerous ‘Long Way’ motorcycle adventures, and the first British woman to go around the world on a motorbike, Elspeth Beard will be stopping by.

The Armchair Adventure Festival is here to quench your adventure thirst, inspire your next trip and maybe even teach the odd adventurous trick or two. Matt, one half of The Sidecar Guys, who host the event, said, “We’ve got an incredible line up for this festival and have some real characters joining us on stage – from big names in motorcycling like Charley Boorman, to quirky adventurers like Karl Bushby, who is walking back to his house in Hull from Argentina (he’s been walking since 1998)! Plus, it’s all in aid of a great charity, COCO, whose mission is to provide quality for children in East Africa”.

Reece, the other ‘Sidecar Guy’ added, “Thanks to our partnership with Honda UK, this festival is looking like it will be bigger and better than the first one too! We’re particularly delighted to be partnering with the Africa Twin which has been synonymous with adventure right from the very beginning. We’ll be showcasing the new version which we took for a spin at the Honda Adventure Centre a few weeks back. Being a Sidecar Guy, I think it’s missing a wheel but the latest CRF1100L Africa Twin is brilliant - it’s lighter, more powerful, and is packed with all the latest technologies!”

To join in, all you have to do is visit and sign up for your free front-row seat. You’ll be sent your free tickets by email on the day. When you get them, simply click on the link and join in. It’s just like TV – you can see them, but they can’t see you - the only difference is that you can jump on the live chat and quiz the speakers throughout the weekend.

The event is completely free, however, any donations for COCO would be gratefully received. You’ll be able to donate during the festival using the tip jar or in advance of it here.

This is one virtual event that every self-respecting adventurer will not want to miss!
