The 200mph mark remains out of reach for Indian’s streamliner

“Spirit of Munro” managed 192.74mph at Bonneville

INDIAN’S SCOUT-based streamliner – the Spirit of Munro– failed to hit its 200mph target at Bonneville Speed Week.

The bike, a tribute to World’s Fastest Indian legend Burt Munro, was ridden by his great-nephew, Lee Munro. After coming close to the 200mph mark at previous attempts, there was confidence that this year’s Speed Week would see it happen.

As it turned out, though, an O2 sensor blew out of the bike’s exhaust, firing hot gasses straight at Munro’s leg and leaving him with burns that put an end to this year’s efforts.
