Aprilia confirms Jorge Martin’s MotoGP return date

Jorge Martin is set to make his MotoGP return at this weekend’s 2025 season-finale in Valencia.

The Spanish rider has been absent since the Japanese Grand Prix in September, when he suffered a fracture of his right collarbone during the sprint race.

Martin’s latest injury is one of many he’s had to deal with throughout his first year with Aprilia, which itself has been up and down for many reasons.

During the early part of the season rumours of Martin wanting out of his Aprilia contract surfaced, but the two sides ultimately managed to move forward. However, injuries have continued to plague Martin since, who was hoping for a much better title defence than the one that transpired.

The 2024 MotoGP champion has only taken part in six full race weekends this season, while team-mate Marco Bezzecchi has been a big reason for Aprilia’s most successful season ever in MotoGP.

But Martin will be hoping his latest injury setback is now behind him as he gets set to make his comeback at a track he’s won at on three occasions (once in Moto3 and Moto3, and once in a MotoGP sprint race).

Speaking ahead of his return to action, Martin said:

"I can’t wait to be back with the team. I’m really happy with the way the team is working and I’d like to congratulate Aprilia and Marco on the results they’ve achieved. My goal now is to start preparing in the best possible way for next season; now, it doesn’t make sense to talk about results — the important thing is to put in the laps and gather information. I want to grow together with the team so that we’re ready for 2026.”

While Martin’s return is positive news for Aprilia, it’s even more important in the sense that he will be able to ride the 2026 RS-GP during the post-season test at Valencia on Tuesday, 18 November.
