Drifting made illegal in Oman, 25 motorcycles seized

DON’T drift, or risk having your motorcycle seized – that’s the message from police in Oman.

25 motorcycles have recently been confiscated by police following the introduction of a strict new set of road laws at the start of this year.

Under these laws, ‘Drifting’ is punishable by a fine of OMR50 (£92) and three points, although that doesn’t explain why the bikes were confiscated. The wording also doesn’t stipulate where the drifting should take place for it to be illegal.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) released this statment regarding the seizures: "Police in Dhahirah seized 25 bikes and a car in Ibri on charges of drifting and public harm."
