Train hits motorcycle at level crossing

A TRAIN hit a motorcycle at a level crossing in North Yorkshire after the motorcycle became stuck on the tracks.

The motorcycle had broken down and the owner was pushing it across the tracks when the front wheel became stuck. A train carrying coal, on the Northallerton to Middlesbrough line, was travelling at slow speed but struck the motorcycle before it could stop.

The train's driver said he had seen a man dump the motorcycle and run away. British Transport Police said that the motorcycle's owner was not injured in the incident and the motorcycle had been recovered from the scene.
