Royal Enfield gives the Bullet 650 the Midas touch

To mark 125 years in the saddle, Royal Enfield gives the Bullet 650 a golden "hypershift" paint scheme.

Royal Enfield is celebrating its 125th birthday, and rather than blowing out candles, it’s dipped one of its most iconic machines in something far shinier. The Bullet 650 125 Year Special Edition celebrates one and a quarter centuries of motorcycling in style!

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Enfield’s expanding 650 range, the Bullet won’t be a stranger. It shares its engine, frame and much of its chassis with the rest of the family, including the Classic 650 that also broke cover at EICMA this year. That means the familiar 648cc air-cooled SOHC parallel-twin sits at the heart of the bike, delivering 46.3bhp at 7,250rpm and 38.5 lb-ft of torque at 5,650rpm — modest on paper, but designed for character rather than chaos.

Visually, though, this one steals the show. The 125 Year Special Edition is less a motorcycle and more a rolling tribute to Royal Enfield’s long lineage of ‘Pure Motorcycling’. The signature teardrop tank and nacelle headlight remain untouched — because why would you mess with shapes that have defined motorcycling for almost a century? — but this time they’ve been turned into a shimmering canvas.

The ‘hypershift’ paintwork is the star of the show: a colour-shifting finish that flows between deep red and gold depending on your angle, like a mood ring for the mechanically minded. A gold 125 Years crest sits proudly on the tank, marking the occasion in typically Enfield fashion: loud, proud and very shiny.

The Bullet 650 made its UK debut alongside a stack of new metal at MCL25, including the electric Flying Flea C6 and S6 models, plus the new Himalayan 450 Mana Black Edition. For the cruiser fans, the Shotgun 650 Rough Crafts Limited Edition and the recently introduced Goan Classic 350 were also present, not to mention a few updated 2026 models lurking around the stand.

The star of the event, though, was the 125-year edition, which was not just an anniversary but a full-scale golden celebration.
