Rain hits day two of Aragon World Superbike test

Heavy rain at Aragon restrained the track activity on the concluding day of the first World Superbike test ahead of 2019 with just two riders setting representative lap times.

Following reigning champion Jonathan Rea topping the opening day times in dry conditions at the Spanish track, only Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Chaz Davies and Barni Ducati’s Michael Ruben Rinaldi produced lap times as rain set in early during the second day to limit all track action.

Both factory Kawasaki riders, Rea and Leon Haslam, plus factory Yamaha riders, Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark, opted against running entirely in the unrepresentative conditions.

Davies notched up 22 laps on Thursday in order to gain as much track time as possible on the new Ducati Panigale V4 R, setting the best effort of 2m 04.513s, followed by Rinaldi who produced 25 laps with a best lap of 2m 07.961s.

Testing concludes at Aragon ahead of the final 2018 winter test at Jerez in 10 days time (November 26-27).
