John McGuinness Honda CBR1000RR-R SP 100th TT Start replica lands

Honda has pulled the wraps off a very special CBR1000RR-R this morning, as it, and John McGuinness celebrate his 100th Isle of Man TT start this year

A living legend of the Isle of Man TT races is getting a very special limited edition bike this autumn, as John McGuinness’s 100th TT start is commemorated with an exclusive 2022 CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade.

Much of John’s success on the Isle of Man has been aboard Honda-powered machines, be it the archetypal Fireblade or smaller capacity CBR600RR. That success led to a lasting relationship with the Honda brand, both here in the UK and in Japan. The fruits of that relationship have driven Honda UK to create a run of very special edition CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblades, finished to celebrate his 100th IoM TT start.

Strictly limited to just 30 units, the bike is based on the latest generation SP variant of the 30th Anniversary Fireblade, pretty much making it as trick as trick gets. It is also based on the same bike we rode during a track day at  Donington Park with John earlier this year.

Setting the bike apart from the stock machines is a host of add-ons and, of course, that commemorative paint job. The gold paint job incorporates gold detailing and a film strip showing all of John’s TT starts on a Honda-powered machine. Lucky owners will also get gold wheel stripes, perfectly replicating the bike he rode on Sunday, June 5th, 2022; his 100th TT start.

Upping the ante further, the new bike is adorned with bolt-on kit from Honda and garnished with trinkets for the man/women cave at home. The bolt-ons include a carbon mudguard and hugger, a seat cowl, and a taller screen. The bike will also arrive shod with Metzeler Racetec RR tyres, with the original, OEM, hoops supplied in the crate. Each machine will be individually numbered, complete with a plaque on the headstock marking the bike’s significance. As an extra special touch, John will hand sign all the bikes, and, as no two signatures are exactly the same, every machine is basically unique.

To spruce up the space these bikes will likely sleep in (at least till they double in value), the new owner will also get a custom Fireblade garage mat, a bike cover, and a 3D laser-engraved crystal featuring a design of the John McGuinness 100th Start replica. Not only that but MCPint himself will be camped at Honda Racing in Louth for the delivery of the machines, waiting patiently to hand them over to their lucky new owners.

Let’s hope he’s not out there too long, it gets chilly in Louth!

Speaking about the new bike, John said:

“The stars aligned for me to be back on a Honda Fireblade for my 100th TT start. It’s an awesome bike and has meant so much to me over my career. And, if I think about it, to so many other riders over the last 30 years too. I’m proud of my connection with its place in TT history and of this, my replica. There is no event like the Isle of Man TT in the world and this motorcycle celebrates Honda’s, and my own part, racing in it. That feels good. Really good.”
