Qatar MotoGP start to be rescheduled?

DORNA - the governing body of MotoGP - look likely to change the start time of the first race of the 2010 MotoGP Championship at Losail following requests from the Riders Safety Commission.

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi and GP veteran Loris Capirossi, both senior members of the Commission, spoke with Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta about the possibility of moving the Qatar race to earlier in evening to avoid moisture on the track surface, left by the late night humidity.

The request came after several riders fell during last month’s two day official tests in Qatar; most blamed the slippery track conditions after they fell at Turn Two.

Carmelo Ezpeleta said after the meeting:

“I’ve heard from the riders, and we’ve decided to look at the situation once in Qatar. These four weeks may have changed the weather situation at Losail and got rid of the problem. We’ll see whether it’s too damp at the scheduled time or if it’s possible to run safely. I’ve made a round of phone calls to hear from the TV stations and there shouldn’t be too much of a problem in case of a reschedule.”

If the MotoGP race is rescheduled then the new Moto2 class will run first.
