Marc Marquez has retained his place at the top of the times during the warm-up session ahead of the Americas MotoGP, while chief title rival Andrea Dovizioso charged up to second place in front of Jack Miller.
The Repsol Honda rider is set to start from pole position at Circuit of the Americas and went fastest in the 20-minute warm-up session with a 2m 04.573s using the soft-medium Michelin tyre combination.
Dovizioso, who starts from 13th on the grid after failing to progress through Q1 in qualifying, surged up to second place for Ducati with his final lap of the session to go 0.193s behind Marquez.
Pramac Ducati’s Jack Miller fought at the top of the times throughout warm-up, despite saving a scary near-off at Turn 10, to take third place with Monster Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales in fourth place.
Cal Crutchlow claimed fifth place in warm-up for LCR Honda ahead of fellow front row starter Valentino Rossi for Monster Yamaha.
Franco Morbidelli moved up to seventh place for Petronas Yamaha in front of Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci and Suzuki duo Alex Rins and Joan Mir.
LCR Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami slotted into 11th spot on the final times ahead of rookie Fabio Quartararo on the Petronas Yamaha as Aleix Espargaro continues to lead the Aprilia charge in 13th place.
Pol Espargaro, who secured Red Bull KTM’s best qualifying result in MotoGP with fifth place yesterday, ended warm-up a more modest 14th but ahead of five-time world champion Jorge Lorenzo on the factory Honda.
