MotoGP 2011: Round 6 - Silverstone results

The weekend provided weather more suited to fishing than motorcycle racing

CASEY Stoner mastered appauling wet weather conditions to win the British MotoGP by 15 seconds.

Stoner started from pole position and was largely unthreatened all race. Jorge Lorenzo looked to be mounting a challenge but the Yamaha rider high-sided out of third position on lap eight. Honda rider Marco Simoncelli showed promise in qualifying but crashed out under braking two laps fater Lorenzo coming into the first corner.

Stoner's Repsol Honda team mate Andrea Dovizioso finished second, with Tech 3's Colin Edwards finishing third, a feat made more spectacular considering he is riding with a broken collarbone.

Ducati's Nicky Hayden and Suzuki's Alvaro Bautista rounded out the top-five.
