Morbidelli cleared for qualifying after huge FP3 crash
Though he wasn't able to walk away from his heavy crash in FP3, Franco Morbidelli has been passed fit to ride in Catalunya MotoGP qualifying this afternoon
Franco Morbidelli has been cleared to qualify for the Catalunya MotoGP following a heavy accident in FP3 that landed him in the medical centre.
The Petronas SRT Yamaha rider was flicked into a wild high-side at the Turn 13 right-hander just before the final corner, the Italian coming down heavily and requiring the use of a stretcher to be taken to safetly.
Transferred to the medical centre for further checks, Morbidelli has been given the all clear to continue this afternoon aboard his repaired Yamaha M1.
Running as high as fourth in FP3, Morbidelli’s absence from the crucial final minutes of the session meant he’d slip to 13th and will thus need to fight for the remaining two spots available in Q1 to progress to Q2.
Massive highside for Morbidelli.
