Turn 6 at Jerez, home of the Spanish MotoGP, is to be renamed in honour of the newly retired Dani Pedrosa.

Pedrosa stood on the Jerez podium every year from 2005 to 2014, earning his first race victory at the circuit in the 250cc class in 2005 (250cc), followed by MotoGP wins in 2008, 2013 and 2017.

The mayor of Jerez, Mamen Sánchez, said: "Jerez thanks you for the unforgettable moments of joy, triumphs and courageous victories at this circuit that you love so much. With this tribute we are giving back a small part of what you have given us."

"It's amazing to have a corner named after me here at a circuit that has been one of my favourites on the whole championship," said Pedrosa, a 54-time grand prix winner.

"It's a circuit that I've always gone well at and I felt special to have a corner named here, sharing the honour with other great riders. I feel overwhelmed and I want to thank you all for that."

Jerez will be the venue for another milestone in Pedrosa's career as he makes his KTM test riding debut at the circuit.
