The much revised 2020 MotoGP World Championship calendar has been formally revealed with 13 European-based rounds confirmed to take place between 19 July and 15 November, with four overseas rounds pending without a date.

As expected, the new calendar – which has been adjusted following severe delays brought about by the coronavirus pandemic – will mostly comprise of double-headers (ten races across five rounds), plus three standalone races.

The season will kick off as previously announced in Jerez on July 19, followed a week later by another race at the Spanish circuit. From here MotoGP will travel onto Brno in the Czech Republic, with two races at the Red Bull Ring following thereafter, in what will be five back-to-back race weekends.

Following the confirmation that Mugello won’t reschedule its Italian round, Misano will instead host two races in September back-to-back, followed by the Circuit de Catalunya, with those three rounds taking place one after the other between 13 September and 27 September.

The final five-week consecutive stretch between 11 October to 15 November will take MotoGP to Le Mans, followed by two races at Motorland Aragon and two races at Valencia. Together these events will ensure the minimum 13 races will be required for the season to still be classified as an FIM World Championship.

For now, MotoGP isn’t ruling out the prospect of heading overseas during the latter stages of the year with Circuit of The Americas (USA), Termas de Rio Honda (Argentina), Chang (Buriram) and Sepang (Malaysia) listed as provisional with no assigned dates. They will be confirmed or removed by the deadline of July 31st, with the season potentially running deep into December as a result.

All dates, events and the eventual attendance of spectators are subject to the evolution of the pandemic and the approval of the corresponding Governments and authorities.
