Following an unfortunate incident moments after securing the win, Jason was landed on by another rider after crossing the finish line, which resulted in him having to sit out the final race of the day.
During a challenging weekend of racing, Anderson was left with a mountain to climb after a crash early in Saturday’s qualifying race, which left him with an injured leg. Racing Sunday’s final motos in pain, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider put in an impressive performance during the day’s second moto.
Anderson got a strong start and bagan pulling away from the rest of the field with only Jeffrey Herlings able to match the American’s speed around the Italian track. Anderson stayed in front until the finish, and managed to open up a comfortable gap after Herlings suffered a small fall.
Unable to contest the third race, Anderson saw Team USA claim third overall at the 2016 Motocross of Nations.
Elsewhere in 2016 MXoN, Max Anstie (representing Great Britain) ended his time aboard his Husqvarna FC 250 on a high note in Italy. Despite suffering two mediocre starts, he collected 18/22 results to help Team Great Britain earn seventh overall.
Husqvarna’s factory riders are next competing at the first edition of the SMX Riders and Manufacturers Cup on October 8 in Germany.
