Davies out to turn Imola pace into Jerez prizes

With technical issues and bad weather conspiring against him in Italy, Chaz Davies is eager to come good on his upturn in pace in Spain this weekend

Chaz Davies will look to maintain his front-running ways when the World Superbike Championship resumes this weekend at Jerez in Spain.

The Welshman enjoyed a strong turn of form last time out at Imola, claiming his first pole position of the season aboard the Aruba.it Ducati Panigale V4 R and a best-yet 2019 result of second, even if technical issues whilst leading in race one and race two’s cancellation ultimately limited his points’ haul.

Onto Jerez this weekend, Davies is confident of carrying on where he left off from Italy, even if he anticipates the hotter-than-usual temperatures – a consequence of racing in Spain in June rather than September like previous years – will make it an unusual challenge

“I’m really looking forward to Jerez, which is going to be a bit of a change to the scenery and the temperature from the last couple of rounds because it’s hot down there now.

“I’ve had a mixed bag of results at Jerez before but despite this I’ve managed to take a few wins over the years so it’s a track where I know I can go well.

“Hopefully we can start from where we left off at Imola, where we were very strong, and just keep improving the Panigale V4 R in these different kinds of tracks.”

Davies heads to round six of the season sixth in the overall standings, 23 points shy of countryman Leon Haslam in fifth position.
