BSB Brands Hatch GP Free Practice Results: Brookes leads title rivals
BSB Brands Hatch - Free Practice Results: Josh Brookes heads up free practice timesheets on a day interrupted by rainy conditions
Josh Brookes topped the timesheets as the final round of the 2019 British Superbike Championship kicked off in changeable conditions at Brands Hatch.
After the morning FP1 session was hampered by damp conditions, leading to a surprise pace setter in PR Racing BMW's Joe Francis, Brookes powered to the top in afternoon during a brief period of entirely dry weather before rain returned to bring an early end to proceedings
It proved tight at the top with Danny Buchan coming in behind Brookes, only 0.038s adrift of the title contender on the FS-3 Kawasaki, while Christian Iddon was third quickest despite a tip-off on the Tyco BMW.
Championship leader Scott Redding enjoyed a trouble-free day in fourth place on the second of the Be Wiser PBM Ducatis ahead of James Ellison on the OMG Suzuki, Smiths BMW’s Peter Hickman and the last of the three remaining title contenders, Tommy Bridewell.
