David Allingham and EHA Racing will join the Bennetts British Superbike championship grid for the first time in 2019.

Allingham will receive a CF Motorsport-prepared EHA Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 to contest his rookie BSB campaign next year stepping up from the Dickies British Supersport championship after an impressive 2018 as a regular podium finisher.

Allingham says he’s been eager to make the move up to BSB for a couple of years and while he accepts the tough challenge ahead for both the teams’ and his maiden season he’s relishing the opportunity.

“If I’m honest, I’ve had one eye on this move for a couple of seasons. We’ve won races in Supersport and competed at the sharp end with the likes of Mackenzie, Dixon and Andrew Irwin, to name a few, who have all shown great promise in BSB,” Allingham said.

“I’ve no illusions at the size of the task but I’m confident we can, with a lot of hard work, match those I’ve already mentioned and establish ourselves in the series as a worthy team and rider package.

“I was able to get some laps on the bike a couple of weeks ago in Portugal, and although we weren’t racing the bike, I immediately felt at home on the R1, and had a smile from ear to ear as we lapped Portimão.

“I know the characteristics of a Superbike will suit my riding style, and with the confidence I have gained working with Craig Fitzpatrick already this season within the EHA Racing garage, I’m confident we can set out an achievable game plan for the season ahead.

“The goal will be to focus on that and not let anything else become a distraction. I’m fully aware there’s no fast track to success in BSB; you need to be patient and serve the apprenticeship before you can really open up the taps, but I’m excited. I’m very excited about the year ahead and cannot wait to get on the grid.”
