The modular design allows you to choose between the SMART DESERT, SMART OLD, and SMART CLASSIC

YET ANOTHER electric bike manufacturer has emerged on the popular crowdfunding site, Indiegogo.

The three bikes are built around a common frame, motor/battery, and suspension combination, and offer riders a choice of colours and the option to include some hipster-spec saddlebags

The bikes are powered by an LG Lithium battery pack that’s removable from the bike, presumably this means you can take the battery inside to charge it up. The website claims a 50-mile range and a top speed of 50mph.

The bikes all have three riding modes, eco, city and speed and there is no mention as to whether the eco mode includes battery regen when coasting. As with most E-Bikes, the Smart bikes are all twist and go – no clutch or gears.

There is no mention of price or power on the firm’s website, so it’s difficult to see how this Californian built machine will fit into the UK marketplace.

We’ve reached out to the company for some solid details and will update when they come back to us.
