ROYAL Enfield has announced that anniversary editions of Interceptor 650 and Continental GT650 models will go on sale next Monday (7 March 2022) in celebration of the marque’s 120th anniversary.

The models will be limited to 60 each across Europe, with 11 Interceptor 650s and 11 Continental GT650s being “specially allocated” to Royal Enfield’s British audience. The Interceptor 650 will cost £8,150, and the Continental GT650 £8,350, and both will come with a black-chrome paint scheme and hand-crafted brass tank badges.

The badges have been crafted collaboratively with the Serpi Senthil family, “multigenerational artisans from the temple town of Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India,” as per a Royal Enfield press release. Ordinarily reserved for revered temples, the badges will now appear on automobiles for the first time in this limited edition anniversary release from Royal Enfield.

Adding to exclusivity of each anniversary model, “the tank top badge will feature its own unique serial number indicating that it is one of 60 unique motorcycles in Europe.”

Both the UK and Indian teams of Royal Enfield have been involved in designing the anniversary editions of the Continental GT650 and Interceptor 650, and will come with blacked-out components as well as numerous accessories, “such as flyscreens, engine guards, heel guards, touring and bar end mirrors,” all in “black disguise.”

The Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd. said about the launch, “There was simply no better way of celebrating this milestone than by sharing a piece of it with out consumers around the world in the form of the 120th Anniversary Edition 650 Twin motorcycles.”

The bikes will be available for purchase in a flash sale that will go live next Monday, 7 March 2022, at 17:30 GMT.
