Knock-off Chinese MVs coming?

Because the world needs a single-cylinder fake Rivale…

YOU’D have thought that if you were applying for a design patent – one that relates, according to most definitions, to the 'surface ornamentation applied to an article' – that it might be a wise idea not to copy it straight from somebody else’s design.

Not in China, it seems, where this patent has cropped up showing a bike that clearly has all the ‘surface ornamentation’ of an MV Agusta Rivale wrapped around rather less exotic internals.

We’ve already seen Chinese ‘tributes’ to Yamahas, Hondas, BMWs and Ducatis but this is the first time that we’ve seen such a blatant MV Agusta rip-off. Apparently called the YX300C6C (catchy, eh?), we’re guessing this is a 300cc machine, although there are no specs given and we haven’t managed to track down which of China’s vast number of bike firms has created it.

At the moment the bike only appears to be a proposal. Here’s hoping it stays that way.
