Ducati Unica becomes the place for one-off factory customs

Ducati Unica is a customisation aimed at creating Ducati motorcycles like no others in the world

DUCATI yesterday launched a bold new venture aimed at creating unique motorcycles for, we assume, well-heeled customers.

The Unica program centers on the Centro Stile Ducati, where would-be new owners are invited in to work with the Italian firm’s design team. There they will create and collaborate, to design and build their own unique piece of two-wheeled exotic.

It’s an approach that has worked well in the custom and cruiser world for some time, although a company offering the chance to design and build directly onto its sports bike and hyper-naked platform is something of a rarity.

Ducati explains that each stage of the bike’s creation is documented, and will see the involvement of enthusiasts, from the first sketches to the photos of the delivery. With the support of Ducati professionals, the customization process will be outlined, defining every detail the owner wishes to include. From precious materials, dedicated finishes, special colours, and of course Ducati Performance accessories. It’s fair to say that there is nothing off the table when it comes to creating your perfect bike.

The first Unica-built machine is already out living in the wild, with a North American customer creating the final bike of the 500 run of Superleggera V4s within the program. That bike, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (see pictures) inspired machine we reported on a little while ago, was unveiled at a special ceremony at Ducati’s Newport Beach dealership.

Andrea Ferraresi, Centro Stile Ducati Director said:

“Design is a distinctive element of our creations. For some time we had been working on the launch of a project that would give Ducatisti the possibility of identifying themselves even more with their own bike, making it a direct expression of each person’s individual style. So we created Ducati Unica, a highly exclusive program that testifies to the excellence of Made in Italy of which Ducati is a representative in the world. An exciting and unforgettable experience of customization to be experienced directly within our Centro Stile."

As it stands, Ducati is stating the Unica program will be open to North American Ducatisti, with one bike per quarter being produced from 2023 onwards.
