After spending 14 seasons in the MotoGP paddock, Karel Abraham took on a new challenge recently, after the Czech rider took on the world’s highest peak and reached the summit of Mount Everest.

Mount Everest towers in the Himalayas, standing 8,848.86 meters at its peak, and has long been a box-tick on many an adventurer's wishlist. Abraham, who is now a Ducati ambassador who can sometimes be seen at the Italian brand’s press launches, now spends his life outside of the paddock taking on new challenges. When not commentating on MotoGP for NovaSport, Abraham can regularly be seen on social media taking on new challenges such as paragliding, parachuting, and scuba diving.

His latest strip seems to be the one that has left the biggest impression on him. Taking to social media after the ascent, Abraham wrote:

“Mt. Everest. The highest mountain in the world. Physically and even more mentally the most difficult challenge of my life. Despite I managed to summit, I must admit I underestimated this adventure. These memories will stay in my head forever. Thank you @prakashguide for helping me go through it safely, base camp - summit - base camp in just 6 days!

When one adventure ends, another one begins. Just make sure you always find your way back home.”

Abraham retired from MotoGP in 2019, losing his seat in the Avintia team to the incoming Johan Zarco. Despite fleeting podium visits in the Moto2 championship (one win and two podiums), Abraham couldn’t muster the same speed in the top class. He rounded out his career with the highest championship finishes of 14 (x2) while riding a Ducati.
