IT’S fair to say that the last twelve months have been a bit of a purple patch for Italy’s best electric motorcycle manufacturer.

First off, they began 2020 selling more bikes in the month of January alone than they did in the entirety of 2019. That neat trick came about through a perfect storm that was caused by a global pandemic and also the Italian marque really hitting its stride on the global stage.

Now though the brand might just have secured its biggest deal to date, as a Taiwanese distributor, Russ Tiger Enterprise Co., Ltd, has put in an order for $836,000. It’s a massive deal for the brand and will see a selection of each of the firm’s products being sent east.

Now, it may seem strange to be sending a boatload of high-value, high-performance motorcycles to a relatively small island in the Pacific Ocean. In truth though, no other nation on the planet has taken to electric motorcycles quite like Taiwan has. It’s estimated there are 91,000 electrically powered bikes in the nation, and it is thought that over a quarter of the population currently ride an electric bike of some kind.

With this in mind, Taiwan is the perfect habitat for electric bikes, with an electrical charging infrastructure already in place that we could only dream of in the UK.

Russ Rsai, CEO of Russ Tiger Enterprise said:

“Electric vehicles are the trend because of environment protection. Besides, the weather and the environment in Taiwan are also suitable for electric bike riders.

“Besides, the weather and the environment in Taiwan are also suitable for electric bike riders. Our government supports the industry by applying a reduced commodity tax. Its electric bike range with unique Italian style, performance, and being the MotoE supplier are the factors that make us place our trust in Energica bikes.

Giacomo Leone, Energica Sales & Field Marketing Director commented:

“The Energica motorcycles ordered will be produced and will arrive in the upcoming months in Taichung, base of operations of Russ Tiger Enterprise Co., Ltd.”

“We are proud to have a business partner with the same long-term vision as us; we are confident to continue our development in the Asia Pacific area in the coming months, bringing our brand and our motorcycles to new markets with high development potential.”
