THE Mad Max movie franchise may have been headlined by a youthful Mel Gibson and his awesome Interceptor police car, but first movie, that was the one spawned one of the most famous movie bikes of all time; the Kawasaki Z1000/Z900 ridden by 'Goose'.

The bikes used in the making of the film were a Kawasaki Z1000 and Z900, both dressed up to look identical with La Parisienne fairings and all the accoutrements you’d expect for a police bike. Sadly, for Goose, he picked on the wrong guy and was brutally attacked in the film, effectively writing himself and the bike out of the rest of the movie. Silly Goose…

And while his, and the machines’, appearance in the film wasn’t huge, the bike’s legend lived on and went on to become one of the most popular movie bikes of the era. This infamy has spawned a flock of replicas over the years, although we think this latest version, from Lisbon-based builder Unik Motorcycles, might just be the best yet!

The project came about after a visitor to the workshop commented on an old unloved Z1000 loitering in a corner. With a spark of inspiration, the team set about creating a faithful replica of the original MFP (Main Force Patrol) machine.

To help get the creative juices flowing, Tiago Gonçalves and Luis Costa at Unik Edition screened the original film in the workshop, to help drive home what the ambition of the project was to be.

The net result is one of the most faithful movie replica bikes we think we’ve ever seen. From the paint and decals, to the cockpit complete with Tokai radio system, you have to look very carefully indeed to see that this is not the original used in the 1979 film.
