THE highly capable Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 has completed the 1000 Dunas Raid this weekend, at the hands of experienced Dakar campaigner Joan Pedrero.

Competing in the super tough Elite Class, Pedrero raced the factory stock machine from October 22 to 29, competing cross-country from Granada in Southern Spain to Merzouga in Morocco. Once that leg is completed, the teams and riders head back north, crossing the med again and racing to the finish line back in Granada. The Elite Class covers 2,500km (over 1,500m) and the terrain covered it makes it an extreme test for rider and machine.

It turns out though that Harley-Davidson’s first modern-era adventure motorcycle is more than a match for the terrain, as it and Pedrero took a coveted finish in the event.

Speaking after crossing the line, Pedrero said:

Pedrero said: "I am excited to say that I have put a full stock bike in the 1000 DUNAS RAID. Once again, I had the opportunity to push the Pan America™ 1250 to the limit, demonstrating its capability of going through the most complicated surfaces, and I had the most amazing experience!"

Launched in 2021, the new Harley-Davidson Pan America fired America’s most famous motorcycle maker into the most hotly contested segment in the two-wheeled world. Taking the fight to BMW, Triumph, Honda, and KTM is no mean feat, although after riding it on the launch, it was quickly evident that H-D were well on the way to creating a solid competitor to the established offerings.
