THIRTY SIX years after Evel Knievel's failed attempt to jump Snake River Canyon in his X2 Skycycle, an eBay member is to sell the parachute which brought the late daredevil legend back to earth.
Scott Truax, son of the rocket’s designer,
has signed a
letter of authenticity to verify this fact. Additionally, he also confirmed
that it was the failed hatch that caused the rocket to malfunction. This is
important, because previously people believed the jump failed because of
electrical problems. Some even said that Knoevel had bottled it and pulled the actuation level.
The parachute is set to appear for auction in the next few days. We'll let you know when it goes live, just in case you fancy a flutter!
