Motorcycle gang hits London jewellery store
Gang steals tens of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery in latest burglary
MOTORCYCLE raiders smashed their way into the Knightsbridge Harvey Nichols store at 1:30am this morning.
The gang was made up of a team of six men, three of which ransacked the Garrard boutique store with Sledgehammers, damaging display cases in a snatch and grab break-in before returning to their bike mounted getaway riders, who waited outside on “high-powered” machines.
The thieves are said to make up a group named, ‘Fagin’s Kitchen’ consisting of about 50 loosely connected individuals, mainly teenagers based around the Islington area. The gang have been targeting West End fashion stores and jewellers for several years and taken around £4 million in goods over the past 12 months.
A Harvey Nichols spokeswoman said: “This morning's raid was over within a few minutes. A member of the public alerted police, who turned up within five minutes. However, the gang had fled.”
