THINKING ABOUT touring in Ireland? Then best keep 'em peeled, as network of privatised mobile speed enforcement cameras begins operating today.
The new mobile camera system, using clearly marked vans, is set to periodically patrol around 600 problems areas - with more than 60 in Dublin alone.
Last November, authorities signed a five-year 65 million euro contract with the GoSafe consortium to provide the service.
A list of the areas that will be monitored by the cameras is on the Garda (Police) website, www.garda.ie.
