Ducati wins twice at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este competition

Scramber-based concepts win over judges at prestigious event

DUCATI HAS won two trophies at this year’s Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este competition at lake Como in Italy.

The Scrambler-based Café Racer concept, created by the Ducati Design Centre, scooped first prize for ‘Motorcycle Design - Concept Bike and New Prototypes’ and by popular vote, was also awarded the Villa Erba trophy.

The bike is characterised by all-aluminium, essentially styled superstructures that leave the original Scrambler mechanics on display. The LED lights offer a freshly designed look, as do the wire wheels, the low-slung exhaust and hand-stitched seat.

Ducati was also competing with another concept bike, inspired by the Scrambler Desert Sled. It took third place in the ‘Motorcycle Design – Concept Bike and New Prototypes’ category.

The Director of the Ducati Design Centre, Andrea Ferraresi, commented: ‘I am exceedingly proud of such a successful achievement, above all because the other prototypes taking part in the competition were really beautiful. Amidst the many superb looking bikes across all the competition categories, people chose to award our Café Racer with the Villa Erba trophy.’
