54 years 8 monthsThe world's biggest charity ride-out for men’s health is go for 2024, and registrations for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) later this year are now open.
So mark your calendars, book your tweed suit in for a dry clean and start polishing your steed, as the date for this year’s ride is set as Sunday, May 19.
The annual charity event, which is open to all genders (despite its name) raises money for men’s health charities, and to date, it is thought to have raised more than £25 million for charity, from ride-outs in 115 countries. Open to all genders it may be, but it is not quite open to all bikes. The DGR has a long history of focusing on classic and modern retro bikes - the properly ‘dapper’ stuff. That’s not to say though that riders of cafe racers, custom cruisers, brat bikes and rat bikes can’t take part. And I even managed to squeeze on to the DGR on my 1995 Ducati Supersport a few years back, without too many raised eyebrows.
Registrations for this year’s event may have just opened, but there are already nearly 8,000 riders registered to take part in this year’s event. In England, there are ride-out events taking place across the country, from Barnstable to Whitehaven, with events also taking place in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
To register simply head to the DGR registration page, enter your details and select the country and region of the ride you’d like to take part in. If there isn’t a ride taking place in your country or local area, interested parties can even start their own ride out by heading over to the dedicated DGR website.
More information on the DGR 2024 can be found on the official website.
